DatacenterDynamics Chicago

Underlining the importance that the City of Chicago attaches to its position as a national and global center for logistics, trade, transport, education, banking and communication, its Chief Information Officer Mr Hardik Bhatt is to open the second annual DatacenterDynamics Conference and Expo to be held on 5th October at the Hilton, South Michigan Avenue.

The City of Chicago is a major technology adoption leader, world headquarters to 30 of the Fortune 500 and home to many of the most advanced datacenters in the United States. DatacenterDynamics, a leading global information provider to the data center industry and organizer of a Conference & Expo series that included in 2006 fourteen of the world’s top business cities, is delighted to be returning to Chicago for its second year.

Mr. Hardik Bhatt was appointed as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the City of Chicago by Mayor Richard M Daley in February 2006. His role is to protect City’s existing investment in Information Technology while identifying and implementing new and innovative technology solutions that deliver efficiencies in service to the citizens of the City of Chicago. As the CIO, Mr. Bhatt oversees numerous technology implementations, mobile solutions and information sharing projects.

Mr. Bhatt’s Keynote address will preface an expanded programme that includes over 18 presentations and concludes with an Industry Expert Panel. This format gives delegates the ability to tailor their day to meet their own specific informational needs. Topics under scrutiny this year include ‘The Power Gap' which will study power efficiency opportunities from the chip to server and from rack solutions to the transmission system, the examination of adaptive cooling solutions to extreme density issues, the presentation of opportunities in ‘green’ facility design as well as the introduction of new design modelling techniques, best practices in outsourcing to counter capacity constraints, as well as the latest on cable management and of course mission critical monitoring. This cutting-edge schedule will help the largest enterprise, operator and institutional datacenter operators improve availability and manage their costs in 2006-2007.

Speakers include:

Andrew Fanara, Product Specifications Development Team, US EPA ENERGY STAR®

Don Beaty, President, DLB Associates (ASHRAE TC9.9)

Steven Sams, Vice President - IBM Global Site and Facilities Services

Bill Kosik, Managing Principal, EYP Mission Critical Facilities

Dr. Merhdad Foroozesh, Advanced Data Center Practice - Intel Solution Services
