Extenza to launch e-Publishing Services

Extenza, a division of Royal Swets & Zeitlinger, today announces the launch of Extenza e-Publishing Services. The new service, set to launch officially in October 2002, will provide scholarly and professional publishers with a comprehensive outsourced solution for their e-journals. EPS will be previewed in April at the UKSG conference and exhibition in Warwick, UK.

Steven Hartman, Executive Board Member of Royal Swets & Zeitlinger, reveals that the service was created after listening to the needs of some of the parent company's 65,000 publisher partners. "These publishers did not have the technical and financial resources necessary to build complex solutions themselves but felt that current outsourced options fell short of their requirements particularly in the areas of branding and usage information"

A range of services will be offered in October, including the conversion of electronic print files into internet-deliverable content, hosting titles on a global network of servers, authentication and access control to publications, PDF and HTML delivery, linking and web based search capabilities across abstracts and titles.

Ruth Jones, General Manager of Extenza e-Publishing Services, added: "Our initial market research showed that publishers wanted a service that reduced their expenditure and was an easy transition. This we are taking for granted. But, working in close partnership with publishers will ensure that our services evolve in line with the market demands, remaining leading-edge".
