Ingenta Reports Strong Sales Growth and Appoints New Member to Board

Ingenta plc, the global market leader in the online distribution of published scientific, professional and academic research, has confirmed continuing strong sales growth and further increases in margins in the first half of its financial year to 31st March 2002. At the same time, the Board has also announced the promotion of Andrea Keyhani, Chief Operating Officer, to the Ingenta plc Board.

During the first six months of the financial year, Ingenta experienced strong growth in each of its three product divisions: Specialist Websites, Publisher Services and Pay-Per-View. Highlights of the Specialist Website business included a major strategic partnership with the US-based Gale Group, a business unit of the Thomson Corporation, to create a new online subscription service. This service is on track to launch in the Summer 2002.

New publisher customers included the American Economics Association, the Pan-American Health Organization and the Royal Meteorological Society, while demand for Ingenta's end user services continued to rise dramatically with current levels of Pay-Per-View article sales significantly up on the start of the period. The number of articles accessed and delivered in February alone increased to over 1.4 million, over 250% up on the same month last year.

Mark Rowse, Chief Executive Officer, comments: "I am delighted that Ingenta is continuing to grow rapidly. Andrea Keyhani has contributed enormously to the development of Ingenta since she joined the company in September 2000, and she will be an active participant in planning our continued growth at the highest levels."

The Company's unaudited interim results for the six months to 31st March 2002 will be announced on 13th May 2002.
