Digitization of the Nature Archive Continues

Nature Publishing Group (NPG) are currently digitizing the archives of their title 'Nature' back to 1950, with content being released in installments. Full text access back to January 1980 is now available.

The Nature archives provide online access to editorial information, previously published only in print format. All editorial content from the print issues is available, including Articles and Letters, Review material, News and Views, News and comment, Literature and Essays, plus supplements. All images have been included when available within online copyright.

When completed back to January 1950, the Nature archive will contain 2,399 issues (volumes 283 - 384) and approximately 154,500 articles.

When converting print articles into integrated online files, NPG state they have applied all the online functionality today's researchers expect from a web resource. Each article includes: HTML abstract, PDF version of full article, and hyperlinked references using abstracting services of CrossRef, Medline, and ISI including the ISI Web of Science.

As an integrated part of the NPG online platform, the Nature archive has searching capability and integration with current content from across the NPG portfolio.

A current site license to Nature provides access to all issues from January 1997 to the present issue. The Nature archive: January 1987 - December 1996 was launched in August 2003. The Nature archive: January 1950 - December 1986 is being made available to users in installments as digitization continues.
